Heritage Poultry

and Hatching Eggs

The main season is March-October.

Chicks and ducklings are occasionally available in the winter months. Please call to inquire.

At Family Farm Bed and Breakfast, we raise lovely heritage breeds of poultry, as well as some fun breeds like Silkies and Ameraucanas. Conservation of breeds is an important concept for us and allows us to keep our farm diversified.

All of our poultry are pastured. When visiting the B&B, you'll have many opportunities to meet some of our feathered friends and collect their colourful eggs.

Our fertile hatching eggs are available to be shipped to Western Canada (please contact us via the form to the right for more information). We also incubate eggs for locals (jump to fee schedule). We do not ship live chicks, ducklings, goslings, or turkey poults.  If you're interested in purchasing some of these poultry locally, please contact us via the following form or by phone.

Indian Runner Duck

The Indian Runner duck is shaped like a wine-bottle with feet and a beak, standing/running near vertically. They are fast runners, are great at slug/bug patrol, will keep your pond relatively clear of weeds, and are prolific layers of blue eggs. Ours are Blue and Black. Due to their general excitability, care must be taken to socialize the birds from very young if they are intended to be kept as pets. Indian Runners tend to flock together, so can be easily trained to herd into a secure place at night. This rare breed is on the Livestock Conservancy's Priority List.
